Corporate America collectively lost interest in diversity during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. The data, courtesy of Indeed, shows diversity-related job postings took a hit but quickly rose again in the aftermath of increased violence against Asian Americans and George Floyd's murder.

On March 31, 2020, the U.S. saw about 100 reported cases of anti-Asian racism per day. Then, on May 25, 2020, the police murder of Floyd, an unarmed Black man, sparked a massive racial justice movement in the U.S. That increased focus on racial injustice resulted in companies doubling down on their DEI efforts.

Since April 2020, diversity job postings have steadily climbed. As of Aug. 31, 2021, the share of DEI-related job postings per million is up 52% compared to August 2020. Compared to Feb. 1, 2020, DEI-related job postings were up 76% at the end of August 2021.
